Tent pegging originated as a cavalry sport, its now an open sport whereby the mounted participant, either as an individual or as a team member, takes a tent peg from the ground at a gallop with a lance. Competitors are marked on both pace and style.

tent pegging is popularly practiced around the world but is especially popular in Australia, India, Israel, Pakistan, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.
Description
The course should be 100 metres long with 40 metres to run before the pegs and 60 metres beyond the pegs to pull up. There should be a marker at least 30 metres before the pegs by which time the horse should be galloping. A “carry line” must be clearly indicated 15 metres beyond the pegs.
