Street Golf sometimes known as Urban golf should not be confused with Virtual golf which is also sometimes known as urban golf. Street Golf is played in urban areas using actual street furniture (lamp-standards and drains) as hazards and holes.
Popularity
Believed to have started in Scotland in 1741 outside the White Hart Inn in Edinburgh. Although frowned on by many, this activity has increased in popularity in recent years, being played in many cities across the world.
Location
Urban areas, normally heavily populated and with plenty of street furniture.
Age
Although street golf as a game can be played by any age, because of the dangers of the playing venue, children should not be allowed or encouraged to play street golf.
Ability
Street golf can be played by any ability of golfer, many people play as a game by themselves whilst out walking.
Description
Street Golf is played to the same basic rules as golf, but the hazards and holes are found naturally as part of the street furniture, street lights = trees pillar boxes = bushes Drains and man holes = bunkers Holes or targets can be anything of the players choice. The public's property and person should and must be respected, as should safety from traffic be a major consideration, if the activity is not to be outlawed by officialdom.

Cost
Street golf has minimum costs, An old golf club and ball. Golf balls can be used but a softer ball such as a tennis ball are preferred as they are safer and do not carry so far.
