An exciting sport played in the country, originally developed in the U.S.A it is now enjoyed all over Europe, it is not as the name suggests pulling a tractor but a tractor pulling a heavy weight.
Popularity
Highly popular amongst farming and rural communities though it is spreading out and it is a charged and exciting spectator sport.
Location
Local contests may be In a local field, regional and national contest are normally held on a Show ground, often as a visitor attraction to an existing country show.
Age
Young adults there is no upper age limit to compete, young children accompanied by an adult can get involved with the preparations of the event and spectate.
Ability
You will need to hold a minimum of a tractor driving licence, although a full current driving licence may give you the right to drive a tractor, check on the back of your licence, appropriate insurance as should event organisers.
Description
The aim of the tractor pull is to hitch up a weight sometimes referred to as a sleigh to the back of the tractor and drag it across a field, sometimes the weights are so heavy the tractor will only move a few inches. As this is becoming a popular sport contenders are now also customising their tractors to be able to pull some of the heaviest weights. This is an excellent all round interest a good day out in the country for all the family contenders and spectators alike.

There is a lot of strategy and preparation that goes into tractor pulling with it now being a competitive sport, dedicate yourself 100% to customising your own tractor in the hope of winning the day or just enjoy people curious over your design.

The minimum cost will be for your tractor buy new or second hand, the easiest way to afford this is to enter as a team and all become shareholders in the tractor.
