Talking letters or talking pages, is a voluntary organisation who record letters / magazines and books onto tapes, for the use of people who for any reason are unable to read the written word.
Popularity
This activity is now almost extinct. Pleasingly enough because the need has largely ceased, due to the amount of audio communication available on radio, television, Internet, telephone and the availability of material from local libraries.
Ability
The ability to read aloud at the speed of the spoken word, both clearly and accurately.
Description
There is still a need for official documents or personal letters to be read, for people who for one reason or another cannot read for themselves. this is normally undertaken by a close family friend.
