The art of turning something in metal that has reached the end of its useful life, into something of beauty or that will be looked at with new meaning. The effect is achieved by welding or twisting together, or just bending to a new shape.

Popularity
Most of us at some time will have created a sculpture from scrap, be it in the very simplest of forms. sculpture can be carried out by small a group working together, but is more commonly one person and their imagination.

Location
This pastime can be pursued anywhere that the finished size allows, from a design made up from broken pieces of a wrist watch, to a large garden feature.

Age
Any age can create sculpture. from in the simplest form, children of the youngest ages balancing objects together in play, to create a new effect. imagination should always be encouraged, it is an important sense that has to be developed,

Ability
As with all art forms the most important ability to poses is an imagination, to foresee what you can create. the ability to work with metal and to weld are desirable but not essential.

Description
As impressionism is to art, sculpting from scrap metal is to sculpture. Old working still recognizable shapes attached together to give a new visual effect, that will be stared at, hopefully favorably. The normal means of sticking old metal together is by welding, but ingenuity is the name of the game, metal can be cut, twisted bent or balanced to achieve the desired effect.

Potential
The potential of sculpting in metal is the turning of something fit only for the scrap heap and turning into something that will give pleasure and be admired.
