Photography is the recording of visual images by means of a device called a camera. These images (photographs/photos) can viewed and enjoyed at any future time. photos can be used as a visual historic record, and often considered a modern art form.

Popularity
Almost everyone has used a camera of some sort, at some time in their life, only relatively few join a local camera club, to learn the complexities of the subject.

Location
Photography can be taken anywhere, indoors recording some family occasion, outdoors recording a landscape of the most wild and rural situation, (anywhere unless legally or morally prevented for reasons of secrecy or decency).

Age
The taking of photos has never been simpler, a simple camera can be used quite successfully by children from the age of four or five years.

Ability
To take photos, takes no special skill or ability, simply aim the camera at your intended subject and push a button, and you have a reasonable photograph. To take a clear well constructed photo at preciously the right time takes years of experiance.

The last few years has seen unbelievable developments in photography, no longer is it necessary to take photos on a transparent film, which has to be developed at a future date before viewing. With the development of the digital camera images are instantly viewable and editable, and with the aid of a computer often improved at a later time.

Dedication
As with most technological advances there are disadvantages. The development of the digital camera and the ability to change a photographs composition has meant that a photograph can no longer be relied on as an accurate or reliable record, as it once was.

Potential
To most the potential of photography is to record successfully images of family and friends, and places visited. To others the winning of a competition of which there are many. Or recording a once in a lifetime incident or happening.
