Cyclo Cross is an exciting sport, over grassy areas and usually carried out in public places, the sport involves the cyclist riding their bike and sometimes dismounting and carrying their bikes to clear obstacles.

This is a very popular sport and carried out worldwide, in the UK you can find races and regattas to take part in. As although carried out by professional athletes anyone can join in.

Young children and up, from when you can ride on two wheels until you decide you are to old to participate.
Ability
Being physically fit and able to cycle two wheels is the only ability you need for this sport, owning a bike is also advantageous.
Description
Cyclo Cross is a sport similar to that of mountain biking, the sport has generally been a winter event however some organisers are starting summer races too. The length of the races are an hour approx but for women, children and senior citizens the times will be less. The bikes used look very similar to road bikes however they usually have dropped handlebars, strong brakes and low gears, they have thin wheels with bobbled textured tyres for grip. Making these bikes easy to handle.
Dedication
As with many sports you get out what you put in if you want to be the best in your league then you need 100% dedication with regular training and practice.

The beauty of this sport is whatever your age or ability you get to compete with the best in this field, so learning new skills from professionals and making friends within a sport you enjoy.
