Indoor Ultimate! is a limited-contact team sport played with a flying disc. The object of the game is to score points by passing the disc to a team member in the opposing end. Players must not run while holding the disc.
Popularity
In Europe Indoor Ultimate tends to be more popular than Traditional Ultimate. Where as in the USA it is the reverse.
Location
In Europe Indoor Ultimate is usually played on a Basketball Court or Indoor Football pitch.
Age
Ultimate is most popularly played from mid teens to mid twenties, (college and university students).
Ability
Serious play demands a extremely high degree of speed, stamina and agility.
Players often wear protection such as knee, elbow and wrist pads, much like in volleyball to avoid bruises and cuts when laying out.
Description
Indoor Ultimate is played to the same basic rules as Traditional Ultimate, differing only in that;
* The game is played 4 on 4 or 5 on 5.
* The stall count is reduced to 8 seconds.
* After a point is scored, play resumes from the point in the end zone where the point was scored.
* Maximum 20 second delay between the scoring of a point and the beginning of the next one.
All of these rule variations are made to encourage an even faster more free flowing game.
