Animation is a hobby necessitating many skills. It is the creating of a moving image, obtained from viewing a series of still images shown in quick succession. These are normally obtained by photographing a sequence of artwork or model positions.

Popularity
The creation of motion from still images has always created interest. The ease of which have been increased many times over by the invention and popular use of the computer and digital camera.
Creating Animation is a very satisfying accomplishment.

Creating animations is an indoors activity, that can be carried out from home, or idealy a workshop or studio.

Age
Simple flip book animations can be made from as young as six years of age. Animations using camera or modelling skills from the early teen age years.
There is no upper age limit. This is an ideal hobby for the older person who has time and patience.

Ability
Although imagination, patience and laborious attention to detail are still vital requirements, anyone who is computer literate can with a bit of practise create simple cartoons, (animation).

Description
Animation is a visual technique that provides the illusion of motion by displaying a collection of images in rapid sequence. Each image contains a small change, for example a leg moves slightly, or the wheel of a car turns. When the images are viewed rapidly, your eye fills in the details and the illusion of movement is complete.

Dedication
Dedication as in the need for a regular commitment or training is not necessary or relevant. Dedication in the form patience and laborious attention to detail is vital.
