The intention of the sport of Splash Diving is to dispel (splash) the surface water being dived into as high and as far as possible.
Popularity
Splash Diving originated around 1700 in Hawaii, under the name Lele Pahu, which loosely translates as drum diving. It was high jacked as an exhibitionist activity in the mid 1900s, but since the 1980s has been turned into a recognised world sport.
Location
Splash diving contests are almost exclusivly held in swimming pools.
