Parasailing is a recreational activity where a person (two or three people may also ride at the same time) is towed behind a vehicle (usually a boat) while attached to a parachute. The tow vehicle drives off, carrying the parasailor into the air.
Popularity
Parasailing is a comparatively new pastime that is rapidly becoming more popular, with those wanting an affordable, exhilarating taste of flight. The activity is primarily an amusement ride, often taken while on holiday.
Location
Parasailing centres can be easily found across the world (the UK being no exception). Over water, land or snow depending on location.
Age
Parasailing has a minimum age restriction of eleven years, (with parental consent). And there is a passenger or combined passenger weight restriction to between 7 and 16 stone.
Ability
Parasailing is the safest form of parachuting, because the parachute is inflated before you’re attached to it. This makes the whole experience safe, yet exhilarating at the same time,
Description
Parasailing sometimes called parascending is a recreational activity where a person (two or three people may also ride at the same time) is towed behind a vehicle, (usually a boat, but can be a car or snow mobile depending on the country of location) while attached to a parachute. The tow vehicle then moves off, carrying the parasailor into the air. The parasailor has little or no control over the parachute. The activity is primarily an amusement.
Dedication
No dedication or previous experience is necessary before taking a parasailing flight, as all potential pilots get a short briefing before a flight, (normally taking around ten minutes in duration).
Potential
Parasailing is one of those activities to be experienced at least once in a lifetime, it is often described as the closest you can get to flying as free as a bird.

Related Activities
Parasailing being a towed flight is unique, but gives an experiance not unlike Paragliding 457, or hang gliding 266.
Cost
A single Parasailing flight including a briefing and all necessary equipment will cost from around £30 per person, and is probably the cheapest taste of open flying you can get.
