Sport stacking formally known as cup stacking originated in America in the 1980s. Sport stacking involves stacking and unstacking in predetermined sequences at speed either against a clock or an opponent specially designed durable plastic cups.

Sport stacking has become very popular with the young and also the elderly, and it is continuing to grow rapidly as the benefits to the competitors health both mental and phisical are appreciated.

Sport stacking is an indoor activity that can be held any where. Competitions are normally held in schools, colleges or youth clubs, while exhibitions can be held anywhere where the spectators are in close proximity to the stacker,

Sport stacking is an activity that can be practiced by any age. Being a fun way of improving the hand eye co-ordination of the young or as a beneficial therapy for the elderly. Competition stacker's are at there explosive best as teenagers.

Description
A set of stacking cups consists of twelve cups. in competition these are stacked and unstacked in a predetermined order. Stacks are, 3X3X3 = three stacks of three cups. world record = 2.75 seconds 3X6X3 = three stacks using twelve cups world record = 2.28 seconds A cycle sequence = 3x6x3 followed by 6x6 followed by one stack of 10 followed by a down stack of 3x6x3 world record 7.58 seconds In doubles two player stand side by side, using only one hand each, one left, one right.
Dedication
To achieve competition standard times, daily practise is essential. In competition competitors are separated by age, 12years and under 13 and 14 year olds 15 to 18 year olds 19 to 24 year olds 25 to 59 year olds over 60s There is also a special stacker division (disabled stacker's) This is certainly a sport for the young.
Cost
A set of twelve specially designed stacking cups can be purchased for around £20, Novice stacker's can use ordinary plastic cups purchased for a few pence. Genuine sport stacking cups are very durable and have holes in the bottom, necessary to release the air quickly when stacking at the tremendous speeds obtained.
