A spectator is someone who watches an activity, there are far more spectators than participants, and they are a vital part of any competition or exhibition, they give encouragement to competitors and appreciation to exhibitors.

Age
It is very rare for there to be any restriction on age, children under a stated age may have to be accompanied by an adult, normally for safety or insurance reasons.

Description
Every activity that holds competitive competitions or exhibitions be they amateur or professional needs spectators, for it is their gate receipts that finance the event and hopefully a bit more towards running the activity. Some activities normally the annual novelty type are more oriented to the spectator than to the participant. Going to an activity competition or exhibition is a good starting point when thinking of taking up a new pastime or sport, you can see what would be expected of you.
