Roller derby is a speed roller skating sport for mixed teams of men and women. Competitors race around a track and gain points by lapping opponents, unlike conventional speed skating a good deal of bodily contact is permitted.

Roller Derby is certainly not an activity for children
Ability
Before taking up the sport of roller derby potential participants must be fully competent at roller skating. And although it is not essential extra body weight is an obvious advantage.
Description
Teams consist of five men and five women. The men skate for twelve minutes and then the women skate for twelve minutes, all the men skate together then the women, so that although men and women are in the same team and race they do not actually compete against each other. competitors do not have to stay in lanes. Tripping is prohibited but pushing and jostling are allowed, points are scored by lapping opponents.
