Description
The range of activities is enormous and there's something to appeal to everyone, from outdoor challenges to learning new skills, international travel to getting involved in community action projects. And whether abseiling and canoeing or having your say on how guideing operates, one thing is certain. You'll make a lot of friends and have a lot of fun.
Dedication
There’s more to guiding than having a good time. Guiding is an activity with a purpose. It provides opportunities for girls and young women to be challenged by new experiences and achieve a sense of pride in accomplishment. And to develop personal values which give their lives meaning and direction.
Potential
Helping young people gain a better understanding of other cultures and worldwide issues is an important part of Girlguiding UK.

Voluntary Work
The Girl Guide organisation is always looking for adult volunteer helpers, without whom the organisation could not function.
As a Leader you can take an active part in some of these fun and exciting activities yourself. Or if, for example, abseiling is not your cup of tea, you can simply organise activities for the girls and get pleasure from watching them enjoy it to the full.
Cost
Guiding units charge 'subs' to cover costs like equipment and the hire of the meeting place. These can be paid weekly, monthly or each term. There is also an annual subscription (which may be included in the subs) which is paid to cover the day-to-day running of the association.
The unit Leader will be able to tell you about the amount as well as how and when you would be expected to pay. For events like camps, holidays or adventure days, an extra charge is usually made.
