Description
In 1928 'Women' gained the right to vote but only through hard work lobying and determination, you may well be familiar with the word Suffragettes, these women campaigned loudly for the right to vote, while another group campaigned in a quieter manner these became known as the Suffragists. With a new sense of freedom women led by two women Eva Hubback and Margery Corbett Ashby who saw the need to create an organisation purely for women, the Townswomans Guild envolved.
Dedication
Today in 2006, Townswomen?s Guilds remain one of Britain?s leading women?s groups. There are a reported 41,000 members and the organisation prides itself on the involvement with local, national and global issues. Becoming a member involves meeting reugularly and helping with the issues at hand, so a fair amount of dedication is required here.
