Popularity
Nowadays punting is most popularly associated with the English university towns of Oxford and Cambridge, although not exclusively.
Location
Punting is a suitable activity, as a sedate form of transport across most calm and shallow water, (small rivers, lakes, canals and inner docks).
Age
There are no age restrictions of either punter or punt passengers, although as with all water activities, common sense must be used used as to when children are allowed to punt on their own. A punt is not the most stable of boats.
Ability
Although not essential, as with all water based activities the ability to swim is advisable. There is a definite knack to propelling a punt competently, that can only be obtained by experience.
