Back since time began there has always been an instrument of sorts available to pump out a tune or a rhythm. Nearly everyone at one time has tried out an instrument, or has a natural affinity to an instrument.

Popularity
Instrument playing is as diverse as there are people and will always continue to be a popular pastime among individuals of all walks of life.

Location
The UK with its Gaelic and Celtic traditional background has many avenues for musical instruments and many schools and tutors are scattered throughout the Islands, with the revival of many ancient applications especially through the folk world.

Age
There is no age limit on the use of instruments, and despite the technological world emerging there is a great revival happening in the music world.

Ability
You have to have an ear for music, an understanding of music and the rudiments is a tremendous advantage. Some people study instruments and become professional, but equally there are amateur's that are as good if not better than them sometimes.

Description
There are many instruments from percussion through strings and wind. Today we also have sophisticated electronic keyboards, and electric replicas of instruments, such as electric accordians. What ever your desire there is an instrument for you even if its the humble drum or triangle.

Dedication
Many instruments need a lot of dedication to master, with many hours of practice and practice upon practice until you can play as the saying says, 'blindfolded'. whether it is a keyboard, guitar, wind instrument or percussion, they all need hours of practice even if you find it easy to master.

Potential
Potential is limitless, from playing in a local band at the pub through to being in a concert hall and part of an orchestra.

Cost
Pricing is impossible here as the spectrum is so vast, however price is dependant upon quality of sound and use. The old adage applies here in that you get what you pay for. So the world is your oyster from a few pounds to a few thousand depending on the instrument. Professionally there are tuition fees to get there even for some amateurs who want to learn properly. Activities include location and travelling costs as well as costume if needed.
