Known in the USA simply as 'Football' the game play could not be more different than those rules for football (soccer as the Americans refer to it) as we know it here in the UK. It is a physical game where the players wear protective body armour.

With more than 36 teams in the UK this is really a popular sport American Football came to the UK as a regular sport in the 1980's.

All around the UK there are teams and clubs check out the Internet for your local team and club.

At age 14 you can start to play American Football in the UK.

You will need to join a team or club for instruction and once you have decided that the sport is for you, you can then invest in all the kit. You will need good fitness as this is a physical game.

The ball used to play American Football is similar to that of our native Rugby ball in that it has two pointed ends. The objective of the game is to get the ball up the field to the opposing teams end and over their goal, the ball can be carried, thrown or kicked to another team player. Points can be scored in a number of ways from kicking the ball through the goal posts, carrying the ball over the goal line or even passing to another team player over the line.

Give 100% dedication to training and team meets and you can find yourself on the team.

There is the potential to join a professional American Football Team as there is a League run in the UK, check out the web address in National addresses for further information on league games and teams.
