Fly is classed as an ancient angling technique, traditionally the method was used to catch trout and salmon, today other species of fish are caught, anglers using a different rod from usual angling, being longer and lighter.

Fly fishing is an extremely popular sport with many a river or river bank being decorated by enthusiastic anglers, some anglers even participate in night fishing, camping out on the river banks, sometimes this is a family affair.

Children can start Fly Fishing from a young age but supervision by an adult is imperative due to the dangers of waterways.

Anyone can choose to learn fly fishing, though it is advisable to seek instruction from an experienced person.
Description
Fishing with an artificial fly, the fly is attached to a hook on the end of the rod, the rod 6'-14'long depending on weather you are sea or fresh water fishing smaller rods are available for smaller water ways, the rods weigh 3-5oz. The angler will cast flicking the rod backwards, then a forward motion flicking the fly over their shoulder and onto the water, the fly may sink or float depending on the type of fly, the object is to mimic the action of a fly, thus catching a fish.

100% dedication, you maybe lucky and achieve a bite on your fast cast however it can be several hours before you achieve a bite.

There are many competitions throughout the UK, Europe and the world, though the UK is the home of Fly Fishing, you also have the potential to catch your own supper.
