The Pony Club is an international youth organisation, The objective of the organisation is to encourage young people to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with horses, and to give instruction on horsemanship and how to take care of their animal.
Popularity
The Pony Club is the largest association of riders in the world, it is now represented in 18 countries with a membership of over 110,000 members.
Location
There are over 360 branches of the Pony Club spread throughout the UK.
Age
Membership is open to boys and girls up to the age of twenty one years, associate membership is available to older ex-members. Volunteers and instuctors are always welcomed by the Pony Club.
Ability
No special ability is necessary prior to joining the Pony Club as the clubs objective is to teach and educate in all aspects of horsemanship. The Pony Club prides itself on giving an equal welcome to youngsters of all physical ability.
Description
The Pony Club holds residential camps for both pony and rider, fun and tuition days as well as some indoor talks that can range from talks by vets, tack shop owners or exploits of past members. There are a wide range of inter club competition that members are encouraged to enter in nearly all aspects involving horses. The Pony Club cultivates lifelong friendships and an appreciation of the countryside and its codes.
Dedication
As with all areas of keeping a pony or horse there is necessary daily dedication to keeping your animal. There is no special dedication necessary to being a member of the Pony Club, however if you are taking a proficiency test or representing your club in a competition the appropriate amount of practise is expected to achieve your own and your clubs expectations.
Potential
The potential of Pony Club is to enable a young person to enjoy and to get the most from their love of horses. In competition the potential is to represent your club at the horse of the year show.
