Scuba diving is swimming below the surface of the water, using a self-contained breathing set to stay underwater for periods of time greater than human breath-holding allows. 'SCUBA' is an acronym for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus.

Scuba diving is a much more popular activity than non divers would ever imagine, with diving clubs based in most cities in the UK. Most clubs are only to willing to attract new members. For many a once in a lifetime holiday ambition.

For non-divers looking to experience scuba diving for the first time, there is a variety introductory pool session courses available. For the competent diver the locations available are the worlds shorelines seas and oceans.
Age
Ages from 10-15 years can complete the Junior PADI Open Water diver course which is essentially the same as the adult course but with depth and supervision differences.
Ability
Most commercial operators and dive clubs serving divers insist that each diver is able to show them certification, evidence of a minimum level of training, for the type of diving the diver intends to do.
Description
Scuba diving is for obvious safety reasons a group activity and a non competitive activity, divers always helping one another and looking out for each others safety. Diving normally takes place from a boat, that has registered its location and diving intentions with the coastguards.
Dedication
Diver training is the process of developing skills and building experience in the use of diving equipment and techniques so that the diver is able to dive safely and have fun. Not only is the underwater environment hazardous but diving equipment can be dangerous when used by the untrained; there are many unexpected problems that the new diver must be taught to avoid. Also, beginners need practice and a gradual increase in experience to build their confidence in their equipment and themselves.

Once trained and competent the worlds oceans are yours to explore. exploring wrecks, underwater cave exploration, swimming with the fish, viewing the fish and corrals of the oceans magical underwater world, all of these options are yours.
